A Natural No-Makeup Makeup Routine – from Alison’s makeup artist

Actress Alison Chace juggles multiple creative projects, from her acting career to her entrepreneurial hustle Pink Wisdom, where she creates an online platform for women to support and empower each other. A polished makeup routine is foundational to her busy days — and celebrity makeup artist Bridie Coughlan shares her secrets to crafting Alison’s effortless everyday look.

1. Skin
The most important element of great makeup application is to start with clean, hydrated skin. To prep Alison’s skin, I love using Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré — it works for all skin types and doubles as a primer. Alison already has great skin, so keeping it simple is key.

2. Foundation
I’m really loving The Ordinary’s line of foundations right now — both their serum and fuller coverage products are super lightweight. I’ll apply with a dense buffing brush or a beauty blender to even out Alison’s complexion, starting in the T-zone. I set the foundation with Laura Mercier’s Translucent Loose Setting Powder, and dust the high points of Alison’s face with Ambient Lighting Powder from Hourglass for a fresh glow.

3. Bronzer and Blush
I apply a light dusting of bronzer from Anastasia Beverly Hills’s contour kit to really make Alison’s cheekbones pop, and add a dab of shimmery highlighter to her cheekbone ridges and the bow of her lips. To finish off, I brighten her complexion with NARS Blush in Orgasm on the apples of her cheeks — the gold shimmer works well with her skin tone. Pro tip: if you have a hard time finding the right placement for blush, stay about two fingers away from your nose.

4. Eyes
I love playing with ColorFix 24-Hour Cream Colors from Danessa Myricks Beauty — the Exposed shade is a great base for a natural eye look on Alison. To keep her eyes bright and open, I apply a blendable pencil liner on the top outer lid, pulling the focus up and out. I add a soft line to the outer edge of her lower lash line for extra definition. I smudge the liner with a small eye brush to eliminate any harsh lines, and always dab a highlighter on the inner tear duct area to bring extra light to her eyes. After mascara, I use Bobbi Brown’s Corrector in Peach under Alison’s eyes — it’s lightweight, creamy, and brightens without heaviness. I save this step for last so I can wipe away any imperfections.

5. Lips
Lips are the most fun way to express yourself. My favorite lip formulas are soft and hydrating, so my go-to for Alison is Bobbi Brown’s Nourishing Lip Color in Rose Petal. It offers just the right amount of pink, and looks natural with her warm skin tone.
